What does it mean to be a Heart Oriented Intuitive?
There are three external orientations: Heart, Mind, and Body. Your External Orientation is how you connect to and absorb information from the outside world.
As a Heart intuitive, you have a profound capacity for compassion and can put yourself in others’ shoes with ease. You care deeply about people and pay attention to how they feel at any given moment.
When you walk into a room, you instantly feel the mood or the group. It is easy for you to sense the emotions of the individuals around you as well.
You’re brilliant and driven by a desire to connect and improve the lives of others. People have tended to pour their life stories and hearts out to you throughout your life. You do your best to be loving, kind, and caring.
The biggest challenge of being a Heart intuitive is a tendency to take on others’ emotions as your own. You’re the person that people go to when they’re having a rough time, the therapist.
You might feel overwhelmed from absorbing so much of other people’s emotions that you must “check out” for a while having your dinner or groceries delivered because you just can’t interact with any more people today.
Someone may have told you that you have “thin skin” or are “too sensitive” because you react emotionally to others’ feelings. It can be challenging to separate your own emotions from the people around you and decipher what emotions belong to you and what is not yours.
Another challenge is that your desire to be of service to others can create an imbalance of giving and receiving. You might find yourself overwhelmed doing someone else’s work for them (whether energetic or actual work). If you don’t learn to let things go, you could take on the emotional dis-ease of those you love, such as depression, anxiety, and fears.
How to Create Balance:
Consider that not all of the emotions you’re having belong to you. You can honor and love others without “saving” them or taking on their emotions as your own. When you’re stuck in (yours or others) emotions, it’s harder to hear what your intuition is telling you, so practice coming back into the present moment in your
Balancing your Heart orientation requires getting out of reactive emotions and moving into the space of your body:
- Be present at this moment: do a body scan to move out of emotional reaction and into what’s happening in your body
- Discover how your emotions are affecting your body
